If anyone is interested in taking things a bit further, I’d recommend an Immersion Course as organised by Le français en Ecosse. There is nothing to beat immersion for language confidence and proficiency; the good thing about these courses is that you learn a lot about culture as well, since they take place in some well known towns in France. Funding is available for these courses, and anyone who’s been comes back full of enthusiasm and praise. Spaces are limited however so you’d need to act swiftly.
The SALT conference for languages teachers is an annual event ( Sat Nov 1st 2008) and a must-do fixture for most languages teachers, primary and secondary, which takes place on our doorstep – at the university. There are over 30 seminars to choose from as well as a packed publishers exhibition and opportunities to meet with colleagues from all over Scotland. Bookings still being accepted.
